Working at a Grade A means you probably got on average about 140 marks on your mock, but past A's have achieved bewtween 110-220 marks (a big range!). What's the difference between them? The amount of revision they did.
The national average, for an A* student, over May Half Term is 5 hours of revision per day. Do the amount of revision for the grade you want, and you'll get it.
